Nagarjun Hill Hike

Our guide greets you in the lobby of your Kathmandu accommodation for a quick briefing and bag check. A short private drive takes us toward the north-western rim of the valley.

We reach the main entrance gate of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Once park entry permits and military checkpoint checks wrap up, we begin our climb.

Footwork starts on a shaded stone staircase that cuts directly up the mountain. Deep woods of pine and oak shade the trail, providing a cool shelter while bird calls echo through the trees.

Reaching the top of Nagarjun Hill brings us to the quiet courtyard of Jamacho Gumba. Fluttering prayer flags surround the central stupa, creating a deeply spiritual environment to explore and rest after the uphill trek.

We climb the observation tower situated beside the monastery. Clear skies reveal an incredible bird's-eye view of the entire Kathmandu basin below, flanked by northern Himalayan giants like Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal. We pause here to take photos and enjoy packed refreshments.

Our return journey follows the stone path back down through the quiet woods. Gravity speeds up our pace, and the downward angle offers a new visual perspective of the dense forest flora.

The foot trek concludes as we step through the park exit gate. Our private transport waits nearby to pick us up for the return drive.
