Itinerary

Day 1: Sundarijal to Chisapani

Kick off the day with a brief drive from Kathmandu to the trailhead at Sundarijal. Set off on foot, climbing the steep stone staircases along the Bagmati River water supply and entering the lush, shaded canopy of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Push past Tamang settlements and mountain streams as you power up through rhododendron and oak forests. The trail levels out into a breezy ridge walk before delivering you to the hilltop village of Chisapani. Rest your legs at a teahouse and watch the sunset glow across the Langtang mountain range.

Day 2: Chisapani to Nagarkot

Fuel up with an early breakfast and hit the trail for your longest trek day along the valley rim. The route winds east out of Chisapani, descending slightly into green forest tracks and sweeping past local farmland, terraced hillsides, and the quiet waters of Dhap Dam. Cruising through small rural hamlets like Jhule and Chauki Bhanjyang, you will lock into steady, undulating miles. Cap off the day with a final push up to the hill station of Nagarkot, reaching your lodge in time to grab a front-row seat for a breathtaking alpine sunset.

Day 3: Nagarkot to Changunarayan

Wake up before dawn to catch the ultimate reward: an unforgettable sunrise painting the Himalayan horizon in shades of orange and gold. After breakfast, start your descent along scenic, village-lined paths towards the valley floor. The trail cuts down through pine woods, terraced fields, and peaceful rural settlements, offering a relaxed leg-burner to wrap up the journey. Cross the finish line at Changunarayan, Nepal's oldest standing temple, to explore its historic stone carvings before hopping in a vehicle back to central Kathmandu.

Please allow 1 hour to reach Sundarijal, and 1 hour for the return journey to your hotel after the hike from Changunarayan Temple.
